This is what you want on a historic listing, on anything with real landscape lighting, and on higher-priced inventory where the gallery needs to look expensive. Roughly twenty minutes on site, but it has to be the right twenty minutes.
A virtual twilight conversion - $30
A daylight exterior from the main shoot, converted to a dusk sky with the windows warmed. It costs $30 instead of $180, it needs no second visit, and on a straightforward facade it looks good. It is the right call when the budget is tight, when the listing has to be live tomorrow, or when the exterior is decent but not the reason anyone will buy the house. Know what it cannot do: it cannot invent landscape lighting that is not there, and it holds up less well on the complicated roof lines and deep porches that are exactly what downtown Staunton is made of.
Which one to book
If the house is historic, or has lighting worth showing, shoot it for real. A Queen Anne with a wraparound porch is the exact case where the $180 buys something the $30 cannot fake. Cars off the driveway, bins out of frame, and any porch or landscape lighting switched on. That is the whole list, and it is the difference between a good twilight photo and a great one.
Yes, and over a historic block it produces the best frame in the gallery: the house lit up with the rooftops and the ridge going blue behind it. Both have to happen in the same short window, so the evening runs tight, but it is very much worth booking together. Aerials are $95 added to a shoot.
